Phantom Compass founder Tony Walsh is a multi-disciplined creative leader with over 15 years of experience in the interactive digital media industry. During his career, Walsh has been an artist, designer and writer on a number of award-winning and award-nominated interactive projects produced in Canada including This is Daniel Cook, the Regenesis and Fallen alternate reality games, Rollbots Online and Splatalot.

Between 2007 and 2011 he was a visiting mentor in cross-media labs held in Canada (for CBC and for Achilles Media), Australia (for AFTRS), and the U.S.A. (the Bay Area Video Coalition's Producers Institute). Through such programs, he has coached international participants in developing interactive entertainment, cross-platform documentaries, and factual games on topics including the U.S. criminal court system, human trafficking and Iraqi refugee integration in America.

Jos has worked as a professional programmer and system designer in the web and interactive media industry for over 13 years. Career highlights include the position of Technical Lead at ExtendMedia, Technical Director of Trapeze Media, and Technical Lead at TVOntario's Independent Learning Centre. Jos joined Phantom Compass as Technical Director in January, 2010.

 

ericka evans Ericka Evans: Producer

Ericka Evans is an award-winning producer with over ten years of experience in the Canadian media industry. Working as a writer, director and producer with TVOntario, she was key member of the TVO Kids team for over six years.  In 2007, Ericka took on new challenges as a producer for Silicon Knights, a "Triple-A" console game developer. She helped to manage several of the company's big budget projects, such as Too Human (X-Box 360 exclusive) and other unannounced projects (X-Box 360 & PS3).  This role involved liaising with clients, distributors and publishers throughout the development cycle, while managing teams of over seventy people.

Ericka joined the Phantom Compass team early in 2011 as a Producer. She combines her previous TV and game development experience with her exemplary values in this dedicated role. Ericka develops and manages internal and external projects with a constant eye toward improvements for workflow and processes.

 

james allan James Allan: Art Director

A multi-award-winning veteran of the motion picture and interactive digital media industries, James began his career as a visual effects designer, concept illustrator and storyboard artist. Career highlights include senior creative management roles at Digital Renaissance, Director of Game Development at YTV, and Instructional Content Designer for TVOntario's Independent Learning Centre.  With Phantom Compass, James leads the production of 2D and 3D assets for entertainment and educational games.

 

bryan griffiths Bryan Griffiths: Software Engineer, Game Designer

Bryan has worked in the gaming industry for over 12 years and has shipped multiple AAA titles along with smaller indie and web-based games. He principally works as a software engineer, but his multi-disciplined expertise has led him to produce top quality content in the past for every aspect a video game could ever need. In his spare time he enjoys creating traditional board/card games for his own amusement and doing "research" on every game out there.

 

thomas detko Thomas Detko: Associate Producer

Thomas Detko trained at the University of Toronto in fine arts and languages, in interactive media at Ryerson University, and digital graphic design at Herzing College.

He entered the games industry in 2006, creating concept art, 3-D assets, game and level designs for Brass Lotus and then Leaping Lizard Software. Working for AlanlDesign as a designer for over two years, Thom created graphics, animated and programmed games in Flash. Now, as an Associate Producer with Phantom Compass, Thomas contributes significantly to marketing strategies, internal development as well as social and casual game development efforts.
